Breakfast

Breakfast for dogs


Ingredients


Apple 1 average, grated
Sunflower oil 1/4 tbs
Nutritional yeast 1/4 tbs
Oats rolled, cooked 1 cup
Natural yogurt 50 grams
Egg raw 1 average

Directions


Mix all ingredients together and serve (can be divided into 2 or 3 serves).
This recipe provides 360 calories. It provides 15 percent protein, 35 percent fat and 46 percent carbohydrate contributions to energy.
It is not complete and balanced, but provides a nutritious breakfast two to three times weekly

Bacon, Egg and Cheese


Ingredients


1 tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil
1 lb. breakfast sausage
1/2 lb. bacon, cut into 1" pieces
4 large eggs
kosher salt
Freshly ground black pepper
1 tbsp. butter
4 hot dog buns, toasted
2 tbsp. fresh chives
Hot sauce, for garnish

Directions


In a medium skillet over medium heat, heat olive oil.
Prick sausages all over with a fork and add to skillet in an even layer. Cook until golden on all sides, about 5 minutes per side. Set aside.
In a medium nonstick pan over medium heat, cook bacon until crispy. Remove from heat and drain bacon pieces on a paper towel-lined plate, reserving about 1 tablespoon bacon fat in the pan.
Return pan to medium heat and crack eggs inside.
Season eggs with salt and pepper and cook until the whites are set about 5 minutes.
Butter hot dog buns. Add sausage and bacon, then top with eggs, chives, and hot sauce.



Dinner



Chicken, beef or fish


Ingredients


Rice (brown or white), raw 1 cup
Water 1 liter
Pasta (whole meal or plain), dry 1 cup
Oats rolled, raw 1 cup
Eggs, raw 4 average
Flour, whole meal 1/2 cup
Calcium carbonate 1.5 tsp
Vegetables:
Potato, raw chopped 1 average
Sweet potato, raw chopped 1/2 cup
Carrot, raw grated 1/4 cup
Pumpkin, raw chopped 1 cup
Spinach or silver beet, raw 1 cup
and
Chicken, raw, with skin 14oz plus chicken liver 3.5oz
or
Beef mince, regular, raw 2 cups plus 3.5oz liver
or
Fish, raw 14oz plus olive oil 2

Directions


Cook rice in boiling water, add potato, sweet potato and pumpkin and pasta and cook for further fifteen minutes.
Add remaining ingredients, choosing the fish, beef or chicken.
The mixture should be moist but firm, add more oats if necessary. Place mixture in an oiled loaf tin for up to one hour at 180 degrees. Remove loaf from the tin, and place in oven for further ten to fifteen minutes to set.
Divide the loaf into:
6 slices of 500 calories
10 slices of 300 calories
20 slices of 150 calories
Energy from protein 25 percent, fat 35 percent, carbohydrate 39 percent.





Chicken & Rice recovery


Ingredients


Rice, white, raw 2/3 cup (then cook)
Chicken breast, raw, lean, skinless 4 halves
Chicken liver 1oz

Directions



Cook chicken liver and rice together and poach chicken lightly. Mix recipe together and
divide it into several small meals.
Energy from protein 44 percent, fat 13 percent, carbohydrate 40 percent, calories 1000.
This diet is for short-term use only because it is not complete or balanced. It is designed for times when a diet is required and, because of the very low-fat content, it is suitable for short-term use with diarrhea.



Beef & potatoes


Ingredients


Hamburger mince, raw 3/4 cup
Beef, raw, lean 1 cup
Vegetables 1/2 cup
Oil, sunflower 1/4 tbs
Liver 1oz
Calcium carbonate 1.5 tsp
Potatoes 3 medium

Directions



Cook all but oil together, cool then add oil.
Energy from protein 40 percent, fat 39 percent, carbohydrate 21percent. Calories 1000.


Peanut Butter Cookies


Ingredients


2 cups of wheat flour (white if your dog has allergies)
1 cup of rolled oats
1/3 cup of smooth peanut butter
1 tablespoon of honey
1/2 tablespoon of fish oil
1 1/2 cups of water

Directions


Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
Mix the flour and oats together in a large mixing bowl. Pour in one cup of water and blend until smooth. Add in the peanut butter, honey, and fish oil and mix until all the ingredients are well-blended.
Slowly add the water until the mixture has a thick and doughy consistency.
Lightly flour a cooking surface. Roll the dough onto the cooking surface to create a 1/4-inch thick sheet.
Use a cookie cutter to create shapes. Place the cookies onto a baking sheet and bake for 40 minutes.
Allow cooling completely before feeding.
Pro tip: If the dough is too sticky to roll, slowly pad more flour onto the dough ball.

Chicken Jerky



Ingredients


2 to 4 chicken breasts

Directions


Preheat the oven to 200 degrees Fahrenheit.
Remove any excess fat from the chicken.
Turn the chicken breast on its side and use a paring knife to slice the chicken breast into 1/8-inch thick strips.
Set the strips on a baking sheet. Bake for 2 hours.
Check the chicken before removing it from the oven. It should be dry and hard, not soft or chewy.
Allow the chicken to cool completely before serving.
Store the jerky in an airtight the container in the fridge for up to two weeks.

Soups


Broths are useful for many pets. They are good when your pet’s appetite is poor, they are also a good meal substitutes for pets that are overweight, as part of a weight loss program.

Lamb broth


Ingredients


Lamb, raw, lean 25 oz
Water 2 litres
Carrot, raw, grated, diced 1 cup
Barley, raw, pearl 1/4 cup
Parsley, raw 1 tbs

Directions


Cut up meat and place in pan. Cover with water and bring to boil. Simmer for 90 minutes then add barley and carrot and simmer for a further 60 minutes.
Add parsley towards the end of cooking. Allow to cool and remove any excess fat.
Divide into several meals over 1 to 2 days.
This recipe provides 1000 calories, energy from protein is62percent, fat 22 %, and carbohydrate 14 percent.



Chicken soup


Ingredients


Chicken breasts, raw, diced 2
Barley, pearl, raw 1/2 cup
Olive oil 1/4 tbs
Chicken liver 2oz
Carrot, raw, finely chopped or grated 1/2 cup
Egg, raw 1 average
Water 1 liter

Directions


Lightly fried chicken and liver in oil.
Gradually add water to the pan and add barley and carrot.
Once the barley is soft and cooked, turn the heat down, and whisk in 1 egg.
Cool broth.
This provides approximately 1000 calories, and is designed to be
fed in 1/2 cupful to the whole cupful every couple of hours.
The energy supplied by protein is 33 percent, fat 39 percent, and carbohydrate 25 percent.
The fluid can be given on day one, offering more liquid than energy, and then on day two the meaty broth mixture can be fed in several small meals.
