Aggressive dog

Aggressive dogs are often dominant or fearful dogs who need an adapted handler.

Dog aggressiveness is certainly the most significant behavioral disorder. More than 20,000 bites are reported and children represent the majority of victims. 12,000 children are referred to the emergency room every year. This painting is not intended to train the trial of dogs or masters but to make each potential acquirer of a dog aware that it is his duty to avoid all behavioral disorders including aggressiveness in order to respect others.

The abandonment of dogs whose behaviour is not in accordance with what the handler expected is becoming more and more frequent. Euthanasia also remains one of the solutions envisaged, mainly in the event of bites. All these extreme solutions could be limited through information and teacher education.

It is obvious that the psychological balance of the master is essential for a good maturity of the puppy. Understanding is the first step towards healing and especially prevention.

The key words: prevention, race choice, information, knowledge, education. The first step is to know what you think about your dog. The purpose is not to say: "It does not suit me, I separate myself from it" but: "I know what bothers me the most and I have orders of priority for his rehabilitation. »

Aggressiveness

There is a normal aggressiveness that is an instinct to survive in the wild. But "useful" aggressiveness is not harmful to others and is not intended solely for rebellion against established rules. The dog's aggressiveness is abnormal when it is the expression of a dominant position that manages the situation as if he were the leader.

The aggressive attitude

Regardless of the reason for an attack, the dog often displays the same attitudes. He ruffles the hair; turns up the lips; grumbles. If the dog is confident, the tail is raised, if he is afraid, it is lowered. The most dangerous dog is the one who will not show these signs before the attack. He doesn't warn.

The bite

It can be a simple pinch often minimized by the masters. Similarly, when the dog bites and then releases immediately, the owners consider it less serious than if it is relentless. This is not the case. The pinching dog is aware of its strength and dominant position. He believes he is strong enough to allow himself to give only one warning, it is the most dangerous of all.

How to deal with an aggressive dog?

Faced with an aggressive dog crossed in the open countryside, for example, there is not much to do but to take cover.

Which is far from obvious!

This must be done quietly, without running. A leak would only exacerbate the dog's "hunting" instincts.

Remain peaceful, move away slowly if the dog does not seem to want to attack or on the contrary remain motionless;

do not stare the dog in the eye, because he can take this as a provocation, let himself feel without moving, without shouting... are other rules to follow. There is also no need to try to catch the dog, this is not recommended.

There are also cases where the accident occurs when you thought you were dealing with a "nice", malleable dog.

You can't trust unknown dogs.

This is one of the very first rules to be applied.

Warning children

This must be taught especially to children.

The latter are often very attracted to dogs, which they compare to live stuffed animals.

The dog has its own way of communicating. Seeing a child walking towards him on all fours or hearing a toddler scream can destabilize him.

It cannot be repeated often enough: even the dog in the house or the one you know more than others should not be left alone with a child or group of children.

Some accidents have recently caused families to mourn.

It's a trauma when something like this happens.

Yet this kind of drama can be avoided. It is important to keep in mind the probability of an accident and be very vigilant.

Unfortunately, a few seconds of inattention is all it takes.
