abyssin cat
The mysterious origin of the Abyssinian probably participates in its charm ... One thing is certain, his ancestors never put "the leg" in Ethiopia (formerly Abyssinia) nor in Egypt as the legend says it.
However, it is possible that race is African.
Portrait
The Abyssinian is a short-haired cat of medium size.
It is a cat with the ticked dress, that is to say, that we must observe on each hair several bands alternating darker and lighter colors.
This short hair gives a shiny dress, well lying and texture "resilient", ie elastic.
At the Fédération Féline Internationale, only the hare, sorrel, blue and fawn colors and their matches in silver are recognized.
The head is very expressive with big ears well open at the base. It is triangular in shape with softened contours (heart-shaped).
The slightly almond-shaped eyes are underlined by a line of make-up and hazel or green color.
The tail is long, thin and ends gently with a darker shade.
The legs are long, thin and very muscular because the Abyssinian is a jumping cat. They end with small oval feet.
In general, the Abyssinian is an elegant cat and its resemblance to the Egyptian statues of Bastet is undeniable which reinforces the mystery of its origins!
origin
The story of the Abyssinians actually begins in England with a cat named Zula, brought back from Ethiopia by Mrs. Barrett - Lennard in 1868.
From this cat, a breed of ticked cat is fixed and improved. In 1871, the first abyss still called "bunny cat" is presented to the public during the exhibition at the Crystal Palace In 1882, the breed is recognized in Great Britain followed in 1909 by the "Cat Fanciers'association".
Character traits
It is an active cat, sporty and agile. As he is also very curious, he loves to supervise so we will find it rather higher (on the furniture) than on the ground.
In his youth, he even tends to be turbulent ... but he will remain a player throughout his life.
It is a balanced cat, intelligent and easy to educate; you can easily get used to the harness for a walk.
He meows without excess but always discreetly.
It is a cat very close to his master and who does not like to stay alone.
Daily
Maintenance consists of weekly brushing (increased frequency during molting); it can be a few days before an exhibition gives him a bath.
The indoor life suits him perfectly if we provide him with toys and a cat tree!
Attention outside, not only for the risks of accidents, contaminations, flights but in the countryside for hunters (an abyss "hare" looks like a rabbit by far !!).
